Yellow jessamine

The yellow jessamine belongs to Gelsemiaceae family.


The yellow jessamine is the flower of Carolina. The flowers are bright yellow and trumpet shaped. The flower also has fragrance which attracts the birds and the bees. It is an evergreen and its compacted when in the sunlight. If the plant is in a shaded area, the plant would climb (twenty feet) upwards to get closer to the sunlight.


It is found in woodlands and roadsides. The soil needs to rich and moist. This plant is very poisonous. 

The essential oils are used and extracted in perfume.
