The Carolina wild petunia belong to the
Acanthaceae family.
They have purple and blue coloured petals which are shaped like a trumpet, there are green leaves coming up the stem. They only grow to sixty centimetres in height.
They flowers between May and August and dies in the winter but comes back again in the spring.
They are found in limestone and open woods. The preference for soil type would be sandy and dry. The wild petunia prefers to have some sun and some shade.
The plant is great for attracting butterflies due to the bright purple colour.
