Turkey

The turkey belongs to the Phasianidae family. 


Wild turkeys have small head on a small neck, they are big birds with long tails which are pointed upwards in a fan shape. They are dark brown all over apart from white strips on the wings. The skin on the neck and head can be red, grey or blue. 

Wild turkeys are always in flocks in hunt for food, snails, berries, insects and nuts.  In order to find insects they use their feet to move and tear plant matter. 
Spring is when the males perform courtship to the females, the build up their feather and extend the tail feather into a prominent fan shape, they walk around being vocal to try and get the females interested. 

They can be found in forests and fields.
