Black skimmers  Rynchops niger

The Black skimmers belong to Rynchopidae family.

They have big red and black bill, the feathers are black and white.

They are active during the dusk and dawn, during the dark the sense of touch aids them to catch prey.

During hatching the young have equal length manibles, at four weeks the lower mandible starts to extend.
They are found around beaches and salt marshes. They feed on small fish and crustaceans. They feed by flying over the water, its jaws are open and skimming the surface, when a fish is felt the jaws shut instantly.
