 Green anole Anolis carolinensis

The Green anole belongs to the Dactyloidae family

The green anole is the only lizard to be a native species in America.
They are bright green but they can colour change to brown, both genders have an extended pink or orange throat (dewlap). They are twenty centimeters in length and the females are smaller than the males.
They communicate by changing colours, dewlap and head movements.  The dewlap and head bobbing in males is used for courtship and aggression against other males.

They are found in forests, wetlands, vines and in suburban areas. At night, they sleep in the trees. The females lay and bury the eggs in damp and decomposing plant matter.
