 Ground orchid Spathoglottis plicata

The ground orchid belongs to Orchidaceae family.

They have many different coloured petals, yellow, multi coloured, white, pink or purple. It can grow up to one foot tall, they are slow growers.
The ground orchid grows best in the part shade but direct light is needed for some of the day. The leaves are arched with stand out veins. The leaves come from bulbs, as the plant ages, the leaves increase in size.

The flowers bloom during the summer, as they prefer the warmer temperatures. They need to be moist in order for them to grow especially during the growing seasons. During the cold months, they do not survive,as the require hot temperatures. They need to have soil which has plenty of nutrients.
